About Komamon
Drawing on our expertise in kimono crest embroidery, we took on the challenge of stitching finely detailed motifs within a small 1.7 cm space, using a wide range of precise techniques. Traditional Edo embroidery methods are condensed into each piece, including dimensional expression created through couching with gold and silver threads. This work reimagines the beauty of traditional sewn crests as jewelry. Each small motif is developed from an original pattern, and even the twisted threads are made in-house, resulting in a more refined and intricate design. The embroidered parts, created using covered buttons, were realized through repeated prototyping to ensure they are interchangeable, with careful consideration given to their compatibility with magnets.
